Commercial Solar

Businesses who install solar systems can lower their carbon footprint, become more self-sufficient, and make significant cost savings.

How Commercial solar works

The ‘grid’ is the name given to the electricity network that delivers power from generators (like the Clyde Dam) all the way to your home via pylons and power lines.

Commercial solar systems are generally ‘grid-tied’. This means they have solar panels to generate electricity as well as retaining their connection to the electricity grid. Commercial systems may or may not have batteries integrated, depending on the business’s goals and use-case.

Commerical solar is becoming more and more popular amongst New Zealand businesses looking for better financial and environmental outcomes.

Getting Commercial solar installed

Commercial solar systems are typically large, and required significant scoping and designing.

The process starts with our qualified solar technician determining the size and make-up of the system you require based on:

  • Your goals and targets
  • The angle, size, and construction of your roof and/or install area
  • The amount of sunlight in your area across the year
  • Your budget

Our solar technicians will then design a system that will work specifically for you – including any additional options you’d like to consider – and present a final plan and a quote.

This plan will also cover the potential savings and payback timeframe, so you get a good overall view of what you’re investing in.

If you decide to go forward with the plan, we will schedule you in for an install as soon as you are ready. Installs are generally completed within 3-6 months of confirmation of the plan.

After your install, Garden City Solar will support you to fine-tune your system to maximise the off-grid benefits, and be there to answer any questions and troubleshoot any issues whenever you need us.

Installed a 12 panel solar system at my property

Zac installed a 12 panel solar system at my property recently. Firstly he outlined the benefits of having solar and gave me a guide on the savings I would make. The decision was made and I went ahead. Zac is a very pleasant person to deal with and he explained very carefully all the details once it was installed.
From signing the agreement, I didn’t have too long to wait until it was installed. I have no hesitation in recommending Zac to install a solar system for anyone.

Really happy with the solar

Really happy with the solar. Zac was great to deal with, listened to what I wanted and made suggestions based on my situation. He was really helpful and happy to chat and answer all my questions.

I got a small battery set up and haven’t paid for power since! The battery is enough to get us through the night and is generally charged by lunch time. The rest we are selling and banking for winter.
